about

“Capture” (2014) is the soundtrack to the dance film by Amir Jaffer and produced by Carla Escoda of Ballet To The People.
The film is comprised of 4 individual dance vignettes choreographed by 4 different choreographers;

Perspective: Dexandro (D) Montalvo
Light: Lauren B.
Sea: Milisa Payne Bradley
Through The Glass: Robert Dekkers

The theme is the short lived and controversial Google Glass and how each choreographer uses the Google Glass in creative, ground breaking ways that have yet to be explored in the field of dance.

I tailored each piece of music to each of the vignettes.
The common thread in the music is that it is purely electronic based with samples. The only instrument used was cello which I had arranged for Artemis Robison’s Back To Eden. The cello and voice were chopped up and rearranged for the pieces composed for Robert Dekkers (tracks 1, 7 and 8)

“Perspective” by choreographer D Montalvo with dancer Babatunji Johnson was accepted into the San Francisco Dance Film Festival and was played at the premier.

Tracks 5 through 9 were rejects (bonus tracks). There were quite a few of these (some to be included in later albums) and what I enjoy most about them is that they are closer to my true voice. Once the choreographer gives their input, the work becomes more and more a collaboration. The bonus tracks are my ideas unfiltered.

The soundtrack to the film and the bonus tracks have a life all their own. They “capture” a time in my own creative output, on the heals of Alice In Wonderland and Earth Portal and a precursor to Unspoken, this work has been waiting eagerly to be shared with the world.
I consider it a snapshot into my professional dance music career and my musical work as a whole.
